Tax Parcel Application is an on-line, interactive
tax map for all of Westmoreland County. The application is
a provided by Westmoreland County.
The Tax Parcel Application can be used for:
- Viewing property lines of tax parcels
- Viewing aerial images of an area.
- Viewing data on a parcel including ownership, property dimensions,
assessment, and real estate tax amounts.
How to Use the Tax Parcel Application:
- Check the Resolution for Your Display - Your
computer display must be set to a resolution of at least 1024
X 768 in order to use the Tax Parcel Application. If you
need to check your display resolution - Click on Windows
Control Panel, select Display, click
Settings tab at top, check Screen Resolution
setting in box near bottom. Increase the Screen Resolution
if it is not at least set a 1024 X 768. If you had to increase
your Screen Resolution, click apply and click OK. Note
- The Tax Parcel Application requires use of Internet Explorer
6.0 or better.
- Use this link to access the Tax
Parcel Application in your browser. The Tax
Parcel Application will open in a new window so you will be able
to refer back to the following instructions if necessary.
- Click the Public button for Free General
Public Access.
- Click the Accept button at the bottom.
- On the GIS Tax Mapping page, the easiest way
to focus the map on Murrysville is to select Murrysville
from the Select One drop down box in upper right
corner.
- Note the six buttons in the lower left corner.
Buttons to the left increase the level of detail shown and buttons
to the right decrease the level of detail. The display that comes
up initially is button 4 detail.
- Click button 3 - This will increase the level
of detail to show parcel (property) lines, roads and streams.
It does not include road names.
- Navigate using the eight red directional arrows
to get your area of interest on the screen. Note the buttons in
the upper right corner under the Select One box. Another
navigational technique is to click on the Recenter Map
button that has two red circles, then click on
an area of any map. That will recenter the map on the marked
spot.
- Increase Level of Detail - After getting your
area of interest centered on the display, clicking button
two will increase the level of detail including some
street names and plan names. Clicking button one
will display the maximum level of detail including parcel numbers
and more street names. You can still use the navigational arrows
and Recenter Map button.
- Viewing Data on a Parcel - Click on the Identify
Parcel button, the one with the"i".
Place the + cursor on the parcel
of interest, and click the mouse button. The color of the parcel
you selected will turn tan, and a Data Window
will open from the right side. If done, close the Data
Window.
- Aerial Photography - On the right side
there are various options you can select or deselect including
Aerial Photography. You will need to click the Refresh
Map button.
- Printing - There is a Print Map
button in the upper right corner, and print options at top of
Data Window.
