Corrugated Cardboard Recycling
To dispose of corrugated cardboard, Murrysville
residents may dispose of boxes, which must be broken down, in
the new cardboard recycling container. The container is located
at the Veterans Field parking lot near the Public Works facility
on Sardis Road. The Municipality thanks Allied Waste for providing
this free service to Murrysville.

Route 22 Update - 11-1-2007
SR 0022-B02 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Westmoreland County – Route 22 (B02) – Murrysville, Export Borough and Salem Township –
Weather permitting, concrete paving operations will take place Monday May 5, 2008 from 7:00 PM
to 7:00 AM May 6 on eastbound SR 22 between Buena Vista Drive and Salem Plaza. There will be
single lane traffic between these two points controlled by flaggers. Expect delays in this area.
Be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.

to 7:00 AM May 6 on eastbound SR 22 between Buena Vista Drive and Salem Plaza. There will be

Westmoreland County – Route 22 (B02) – Murrysville, Export Borough and Salem Township –
Update: Concrete island placement will occur between Rick’s Sports Bar and Harrison City Road.
Sewer line relocation will continue at the western end of the project near Kirk Trucking.
Concrete placement is scheduled for Thursday night, April 24, traffic will be restricted
to one lane alternating traffic from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM Friday morning from Salem Plaza
to Mellon Road. Drainage and inlet placement will occur throughout the project.
This $43,877,812.40 project includes the reconstruction of four miles of Route 22 from just east
of the Cozy Inn cutoff in Murrysville to the Route 66 interchange in Delmont. It includes
construction of four lanes with eighteen foot medians and a two foot concrete median barrier
with openings to allow for left turn lanes at intersections. Also included is the installation
of a new traffic signal and upgrade of four existing signals. The contractor is Golden Triangle
Construction Company, Inc. from Imperial, PA.

on eastbound SR 22 between Mellon Road and Buena Vista Drive. There will be single lane traffic
between these two points controlled by flaggers. Expect delays in this area. Be alert for
construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.

Due to contractor schedule changes, the planned closure of Harrison City Road and the reopening
of Mellon Road will again be postponed. The new date for this operation is Monday November 5, 2007.
Mellon Road will reopen and Harrison City Road will close. This will enable crews to
construct concrete pavement on Eastbound SR 22 through the Harrison City Road intersection.
Harrison City Road traffic will be detoured via Mellon Road and Clairage Road. The detour
will be posted. This work will take approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

On August 1, 2007 concrete paving operations will take place on eastbound SR 22
between Kistler Road and Humes Road. Motorists should be alert for changing traffic
patterns and stopped traffic. Be alert for construction vehicles entering and
exiting the work zone.
On August 6, 2007 Mellon Road will be closed at the intersection with SR 22.
This closure will remain in place for approximately eight months.
Please follow the posted detour routes.

Notice of Traffic Pattern Change on 12/19/06:
Traffic will be switched from the existing pavement onto the new concrete
pavement from the Cozy Inn cutoff to Brick Hill Road. Traffic
will then be switched back onto the existing pavement for approximately
1000 feet and then back onto the new pavement. Traffic will then
be switched back to the existing pavement near Manor Road. This
traffic pattern will remain in effect until further notice.
